Have a list ready to go and given to the Maid of Honor and the Best Man. I will get the Bride and Groom in the chosen place for the photos. The Maid of Honor and Best Men get the necessary people for the photos. Typically as below:
Immediate family only (parents, siblings, grandparents if present)
Core family groupings (6-8 photos maximum) - Couple with bride’s parents - Couple with groom’s parents
- Couple with both sets of parents - Couple with bride’s family - Couple with groom’s family - Full group if desired
Extended family if requested (aunts, uncles, cousins)
Wedding party photos (bridesmaids, groomsmen, full party)
The secret? Keep the list tight. Focus on the people who truly matter. Skip the 47 different cousin combinations that you’ll never frame anyway.
Real example: At a recent wedding at Wrights Anglers Rest, we completed 12 family groupings in 18 minutes. The couple was back with their guests before cocktail hour even started.
Part 2: Couple Portraits (15 Minutes)
When: Usually after the family formals
This is your time—just the two of you, away from the crowd for a few minutes.
Walk to location (I scout this beforehand so we’re not wandering) Natural, documentary-style portraits . You can take a lot of photos in 15 minutes :) Then walk back to reception
I don’t over pose you or make you hold uncomfortable positions. Instead, I guide you through your natural movements—walking, talking, laughing—and capture real moments between you.
