Dublin City Hall Wedding Wedding Reception The Castleknock Hotel

Having lived in Dublin all my life you think you know the place but as we all know there are building we walk by everyday and barely notice them. Up until a few years ago Dublin's City Hall on Dame St was one of these when I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph a graduation ceremony there. After that I always thought it would be a great place for a wedding ceremony.

Over the past few years I have shot many weddings there but there was one this summer that was extra special. Back in 2019 I ran a competition for one couple to win a free wedding photography package. Enter Jacqueline and Sean! Jacqueline entered and won the free wedding photography package. Original wedding date November 2020. Rescheduled to November 2021 due to Covid and then brought forward to July 2021. Everyone was a little nervous as restrictions were changing all the time.

The day started at Jacqueline's parent's house where everyone was getting ready. Usual busy scene with last minute finishing touches. Mandy the maid of honour was on the ball sorting everything and everyone out to leave on time for City Hall.

At City Hall Sean was waiting. No first look. Jacqueline had decided on a traditional entrance with her father. You could see how emotional it was for him when he saw her. The ceremony was conduction by a registrar from the HSE. Afterward there were congratulations all round before doing some family shots in City Hall.

After that it was off to The Iveagh Gardens for some photos Jacqueline and Sean. Jacqueline's Dad knows the staff at Iveagh Gardens so we arrived and were treated like royalty. Then after that it was off to the Castleknock Hotel for the Reception. This was one of the first weddings in a long time that the couple were having a first dance and were then joined by their kids.

I love every wedding I get to photograph, but sometimes ones come along that are extra special. In the times we were living through then it was great to see such a down to earth family enjoying their wedding day. Nothing phased them and that calm spread throughout the day.
